Announcing the 7th Annual Mars Exploration Conference (AMEC 2007).

Presentations over this two-day event will cover a range of issues concerned with forging, nurturing and developing the pioneering culture and methods required to explore Mars.

Written submissions from scientists, engineers, social theorists, managers, writers and artists are welcomed. Full papers will be reviewed and published in accordance with the DEST guidelines.

Topics include (but are not limited to): strategies and technologies for surface exploration; field science for exploration; recruiting the next generation of explorers, astronauts, scientists and engineers; educational needs for a spacefaring culture; the Mars Society as a culture; new concepts in project management; remote-area engineering; Mars as an inspiration to artists.

Trinity College is a Catholic Boys School sited on the scenic Swan River, within walking distance to the main City Centre, with restaurants and accomodation even closer. All accepted Audia Visual equipment is availble in both lecture theatres. The Board Room at Trinity will be the venue for the MSA AGM and Conference Icebreaker on the evening of Friday 13th.

Registration
Registration is now open for the 7th Australian Mars Exploration Conference (AMEC 2007), which will be held in Perth from the 13th to 15th of July of this year. Register before 1st May, you save up to AUD 20.00, register before 1st June, save up to AUD 10.00.

Accomodation

Trinity College is in East Perth but is about a kilometre from the nearest accommondation in East Perth.

These are both 'apartment hotels' and their websites are:

  • Regal Apartments - www.regalapartments.com.au (Many of the delegates from AMEC 2003 stayed here, quite nice and convenient walking distance from Trinity College)
  • Sebel Residence - www.mirvachotels.com (This is a new hotel since last conference and appears to be very nice.)

    Other hotels to consider are those on Adelaide Terrace, and one or two kilometres away but are also closer to the city itself. Hotels in this are the Hyatt, Sheraton, Mercure - the usual international chains.
