The DRUMBEAT OF DEVON was built in 1991 by Damen of Holland based upon the Stan Patrol 2200 design with modifications carried out to customer specifications, in this case Devon County Council Fisheries Protection Department.
All counties in the United Kingdom are responsible for the regulating and licensing the fisheries off their coast upto the 3 mile limit, in this case, Devonto patrol the North and South coast where the vessel has to be capable of rounding the rugged Cornish coastline, and the endurance to support herself and crew for periods up to 6 days and to be both fast and comfortable for most sea conditions. The Drumbeat of Devon has a complement of 4 persons, a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots.
The kit is within the capababilities of the reasonably experienced modeller. Performance of the model is excellent on the water, with no tendency to keel over in the tightest of turns, attributed to the batteries positioned at the lowest point in the hull.
